How we checked
This is a source-verified comparison, not a hands-on test of each app. On 25 September 2026 we searched the US App Store for the terms people use, such as "AI interior design", "home decor AI", and "room AI redesign", and recorded each app's publisher, rating, and the in-app purchases listed on its App Store page. We then checked that each app we discuss also has a Google Play listing. Apps list several price points for the same plan, depending on the offer shown to you, so we give ranges. We have written full reviews of some of the underlying tools, linked below.

High ratings and high prices sit side by side in this table. A star rating tells you people liked the result on the day they rated it; it does not tell you what the subscription will cost by the end of the year.
What a year of each really costs
A weekly price looks small because it is meant to. Multiply it by 52 and a $9.99 plan costs more than most rugs, and far more than a year of a planning app. If you only need a few images for one room, a free plan or a single month is almost always enough.

ChatGPT and Gemini apps: the free starting point
The ChatGPT and Google Gemini apps are on both the App Store and Google Play, and both can edit a photo of your room on their free plans, within limits the companies adjust over time. They are the best place to start because they do two jobs the restyle apps do not: they explain why a change works, and they can turn an idea into a list of sizes to shop for.

Planner 5D and Homestyler: planners with AI on top
Planner 5D is a room planner first: you build the room at its real dimensions, furnish it, and view it in 3D, with AI tools for generating designs. The free plan includes unlimited projects and about half the furniture catalogue; the App Store lists subscriptions from $7.99 a week to $69.99 to $119.99 a year, and one-off catalogue access at $6.99 for 30 days. Its website lists different prices, including $59.99 a year for Premium, so compare before subscribing in the app. Our Planner 5D review covers what the free plan does well.
Homestyler is a 3D home design app with AI features sold through memberships and AI credit packs, from $0.99 for a small pack of credits. On Google Play it is listed as "Homestyler - Home Design Game", so check you have the right app. We have not reviewed it in depth; it is on our list.
The IKEA app and Kreativ: free, for IKEA products
The IKEA app, free on both stores with no in-app purchases listed, includes IKEA Kreativ. In IKEA's description, you photograph the room from a series of angles and the app builds an interactive replica with accurate dimensions and perspective, in which you can erase existing furniture and place IKEA products. It is the most useful free app here if your shortlist is IKEA, and no help for anything else. Availability varies by country. Dedicated AI restyle apps: fast, similar, and weekly
Home AI, Remodel AI, Renovate AI, Arch, Decor AI, and many smaller apps follow the same pattern: take a photo, pick a room type and a style, and get a restyled image in seconds. The results can be good for mood and direction. They share the limits of every generative redesign tool: the furniture is invented, sizes are approximate, and walls and windows can shift. The pricing is where they differ from the tools above. Every one in our table lists weekly subscriptions, several list more than one weekly price for the same plan, and some add credit packs on top. If you want one, choose the yearly plan or a single month, and cancel the trial the day you start it if you only need a few images.
Name clones in the app stores
Well-known web tools are copied by name in the app stores. On 25 September 2026, a US App Store search returned apps named RoomGPT from at least three unrelated publishers, and an app called Interior AI from a different company than the Interior AI web tool we reviewed. None of this makes those apps unsafe, but it means reviews, prices, and features you read about one may not apply to the other.

Before you subscribe
- Check the developer name on the store page against the tool's own website.
- Multiply the weekly price by 52. If the answer is more than the room's rug, pick a yearly plan, a single month, or a free tool.
- Read the trial terms. Free trials usually convert to a paid plan automatically. On iPhone, cancel in Settings under your Apple Account and Subscriptions; on Android, in the Play Store under Payments and subscriptions.
- Read the privacy label. Several of the apps above list data linked to you, including for third-party advertising. Remove personal items from room photos before uploading them anywhere.
- Treat the result as a mood board. Measure the room and the furniture you plan to buy; our clearance guide has the gaps to check.
